Fiber Art for the Home

Afghans for the home

This winter I wove cozy afghans from the beautiful mohairs and woolen yarn (much of it hand dyed) that I had in my inventory.  They are approximately 40" wide and length varies from 70" - 80".  They are warm and soft, the perfect winter accessories for your home.

Jacquard woven images

I have been designing and weaving images from photographs. I am enjoying interpreting the living creatures that share my Maryland environment in weavings. I use original photos, create simpler images in Adobe photoshop, develop weave patterns and add these  patterns, expressed in pixels, to the image.  My TC1 (thread control) jacquard loom, then reads these patterns as individual threads. Of course occasionally I can't resist a photo from our travels expressed in a weaving as well.

The above image of a Cooper's Hawk was perched in a sweet gum tree in our yard.  It is woven in a 4 color weft back weave.

Another method is to weave the image in black and white shaded satins and then hand paint the images.  This can allow increased detail and colors.

The gallery below includes both jacquard woven images and additional afghan colors and designs.
